Broodmares and broodmare prospects continued to be in demand through Book 3 of the Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale, making up the top four prices of the day. The gross, average, and median all increased compared to last year’s fifth session.

Trainer Mark Casse captured two stakes races on the card with Stormcast and Elysian Field before the remainder of the Nov. 9 Woodbine card was canceled following two breakdowns.

Live racing returns to Turf Paradise Nov. 11. Following successful track inspections conducted by the Horseracing Integrity and Safety Authority, the Arizona Racing Commission notified Turf Paradise that all live racing surfaces meet standards.

Trainer Charlie Appleby has had the Nov. 10 Grosser Preis von Bayern (G1) in mind for some time for group 1 victor Ancient Wisdom, who was last seen winning the Bahrain Trophy (G3) at Newmarket in July.

The Claiming Crown, which has been compared to a claiming horse owner’s Breeders’ Cup, returns Nov. 16 to Churchill Downs, featuring eight starter races worth $1.1 million, topped by the $200,000 Claiming Crown Jewel. 

The Chosen Vron has been turned out for several months after an issue was found in his ankle after he was placed on the veterinarian’s list. Co-owner and trainer Eric Kruljac said the sprinter is expected to recover and return to the races next year.
