A colt by Charlatan became the first horse to break the seven-figure ceiling Sept. 11 when he realized $1 million during the first session of Book 2 of the Keeneland September Yearling Sale.

Colin Brennan is back with a consignment for his third Keeneland September Yearling Sale with his best group of offerings yet. This year, he will sell a pair of yearling colts in Book 2 by some of the most exciting stallions in the country.

After a pair of runner-up finishes in graded stakes with disadvantageous trips, Shotgun Hottie will look to get back in a winning groove when she faces seven fillies and mares in the $400,000 Locust Grove Stakes (G2) at Churchill Downs Sept. 14.

Day 2 of the Keeneland September Yearling Sale saw a new high price of $5 million for a Curlin colt purchased by Mandy Pope’s Whisper Hill Farm. The electric energy could be felt all around the sales grounds.

Mulholland Springs will consign Hip 1043, a filly by Into Mischief out of 2020 champion 2-year-old filly Vequist. She will sell in the sale’s fourth session, Sept. 12, in Book 2.

The millionaire son of Medaglia d’Oro won two graded stakes and placed in six grade 1 stakes. He died Sept. 7.
