Dr. Louis Grasso, a veterinarian, was sentenced on Nov. 15 in federal court to 50 months imprisonment and ordered to pay tens of millions of dollars in restitution in connection with horse doping charges brought against him in early 2020.

In stewards’ rulings issued Nov. 7, two equine veterinarians based at Horseshoe Indianapolis were suspended 60 days and fined $5,000 for violations of Indiana Horse Racing Commission rules.

Trainer Doug O’Neill has been suspended at least 30 days and fined $10,000 by the California Horse Racing Board for a positive test of a Class 2 substance in one of his horses. Also, O’Neill was placed on probation until May 1, 2023.
