Woodbine’s weekend stakes showcase launches Aug. 21 with four stakes contests to lead into the Aug. 22 Queen’s Plate card, led by the Singspiel Stakes (G3T) and Seaway Stakes (G3).

The richest six days in North American horse racing is now named the FanDuel Meet at Kentucky Downs, where among America’s largest fields run for some of the world’s biggest purses Sept. 5-6, 8-9, and 11-12.

CHRB executive director Scott Chaney reported Aug. 18 that “next month (the CHRB) Medication, Safety and Welfare Committee will begin the process of contemplating a regulation that would seek to penalize trainers for fatalities of horses.”

The 13th annual jockeys-versus-horsemen charity basketball game, which benefits the programs of the New York Race Track Chaplaincy and was scheduled to be played Sept. 1, has been canceled, the organization announced. 

Remington Park and Lone Star Park president and general manager Scott Wells will retire from his position this fall. Global Gaming Solutions, owner of Remington Park and Lone Star Park, announced Wells’ decision.
